Academy Award for the Science Communication Unit

Walking with Robots has won a top accolade for enabling the public to engage with advanced robotics. This project was led by a team made up of Professor Alan Winfield, Dr Karen Bultitude and Dr Claire Rocks (all from the Science Communication Unit), Professor Noel Sharkey (University of Sheffield) and Professor Owen Holland (University of Sussex), and included a wide range of other roboticists, science communicators and robotics outreach experts from throughout the UK. The team received The Royal Academy of Engineering Rooke Medal at the Academy Awards Dinner at London's Guildhall on Monday 7 June [2010] from Academy President Lord Browne of Madingley.
